Blood Diamonds
Blood Diamonds is one of those rare movies that can really touch a raw nerve in today's materialistic world today. Just as Bush's farced reasons for invading the whole Middle-east today, Blood Diamonds tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a diamond-smuggler (Linado DiCappucino), a torn father (Djimon Hounsou) and your typical white-girl reporter (Jeniffer Connelly) that were brought together by a pink diamond. The crux of the story is not merely about finding a diamond and bringing back a family together, but rather it gives us a bird's eye view of what blood diamonds are all about. Blood diamonds fuel a bloody conflict back in the late 90's with several factions trying to control Sierra Leone. The war was fueled by a trade in illegal diamonds that gave arms and contrabands on all sides of the war that nearly torn the country apart. Emotionally gripping and touching, Blood Diamonds has one or two humourous moments that will make you chuckle if you pay attention to the movie. All in all Blood Diamonds is just one of the rare ones that make you want to watch it all over and over again.
